The 3 Effects Of Self Damaging Behavior To Your Social Life



Having a good interpersonal relationship is vital especially when it comes to molding yourself to become a better person. However, there are cases wherein your very own attitude is hindering you from connecting to other people. If you are one of those individuals who are currently going through with this and you have recognized that you have a self-damaging behavior, you need to know how this will affect your social life.



The Social Aspect of Your Life



This particular part of your daily living is very important.  Your social life involves interacting with other people. These people may include your family members, friends, neighbors and even coworkers.  You would have to socialize regardless of whether you are at work, school or just at home with your family.



There are a lot of places where you could interact with other people. Socializing goes way beyond starting a conversation with others. This also applies to indirect actions which you perform. These actions will still create an impact to others like driving or during a competition.



If you have a self-damaging behavior affects your social life in 3 ways.



1. You will have a very low esteem which means that you are usually aloof or all by yourself. You do not mingle with other people because you have a very low self-esteem.  In most instances, you can even be overly critical about yourself.



On the other hand, you can also have an exaggerated self-esteem and you tend to have a very high yet unreasonable and baseless regard for yourself.  You criticize other people constantly without taking how they would feel into consideration. You can also be very self-centered. Because of these, several people will resent you and they would rather stay away from you instead of becoming your friends.



2. You may be too generous to others. If someone asks you something, you will not have the ability to say no. Even if the favor is at your own expense. Because of this trait, many people will take advantage of your being overly self-sacrificing.



3. You may never have a lasting relationship. This is because you are afraid to commit or you are fearful of intimacy. If you are in a relationship, your partner may not be treating you fairly yet, you still stick with them even if you know that there are other people who are a lot better.



These are only a few of the effects of having a self-damaging behavior. Not only will your social life suffer, but you as a person will suffer the effects too.
